Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps are often referred to as AOD or AODD's and are not to be confused with Air Pumps which are generally pumps that blow air, not use air as the motive force. Air Diaphragm Pumps can also be used as vacuum pumps, but do not have the suction capability of a dedicated vacuum pump.

Versa-Matic's E2 2" pump uses the Elima-Matic air valve system to provide non-stalling, lube-free performance. It is available in a clamped or bolted design, with some models offering a side discharge feature that prevents corrosive fluid from leaking onto the pump's center section.

Versamatic Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps are becoming the most common pumps for use when Only Air is available or when pumping solid laden liquids or slurries. Versamatic Diaphragm Pumps have no seals as the diaphragm acts as the barrier between the Liquid side and the drive side of the pump. When the liquid pressure reaches the air pressure, the Versamatic pump reaches a point of balance and stalls without the need for bypasses or overload protection.Versamatic Diaphragm Pumps can run dry indefinately and have the ability to self prime to 7 metres or more in some cases. They can handle viscosities up to 20000 Centipoise as standard and some Versamatic models can handle cPs into the 100's of 1000's.
